Artist Talk
Meet Lee McLean, a textile artist whose works are currently on display at the Arts Center Gallery.
This talk will consist of two parts. First, using a visual presentation, Lee McLean will discuss the evolution of her improvisational piecing practice, her artistic approach, and the techniques she uses to produce this kind of work. In 2023, she won first place in the Abstract and Improvised Art category of the 2023 Quilt Canada national competition. The work is currently part of a traveling exhibition across Canada.
Next, Lee will invite participants to join her for a guided tour of her exhibition. This tour of her works will allow her to explain how she first developed her skills in traditional patchwork before integrating them into her contemporary artistic practice. Since she employs a variety of techniques in her work, she will be able to discuss, for each piece, her artistic intent as well as the patchwork methods used in creating her works.
